Liposuction is performed in the operating room and usually takes between one and two hours to complete. An experienced anesthesiologist will administer local, sedation/twilight, or general anesthesia to ensure total patient comfort. Dr. D’Souza utilizes a super-wet technique, which is one of the safest fat removal methods available. Small incisions (approximately two millimeters long) are placed near the target area. Commonly treated regions include the abdomen, hips, flanks, thighs, arms, and neck. A hollow tube (cannula) is inserted and used to remove unwanted fatty tissue with suction technology.

Liposuction is a minor procedure and requires minimal recovery time. We will discuss all exercise and lifting restrictions at your pre-operative visit. Walking is highly encouraged after the procedure to promote blood circulation for a safe and speedy recovery. Most people require approximately two days of recovery time before returning to their normal activities.

You will see some noticeable improvement immediately following your liposuction procedure. However, the final outcome may take a few months to fully develop, as the swelling takes time to subside. Some small, visible scars may develop, but the contouring results will be long-lasting provided that general fitness and nutritional care are maintained.
